Thesis
Dei Verbum-- The Word of God-- is the response to the changing attitudes on the topic of Faith. The dogmatic Constitution of the Second Vatican Council is based on the principle of divine revelation. In the time of controversy and shifting social attitudes, Dei Verbum sought to instill in the people, a divinely inspired truth, and become aware of God as he reveals himself to us. It was a document that was most prudent and necessary as the Church progressed through and unconventional era in history. To a conservative mind, the Vatican Council was a radical display of Church authority. Dei Verbum sought to justify the teaching authority of the Church and recognize the infallibility of Sacred Tradition as it remains in line with the teaching of the Bible. This is made certain:Sacred Scripture, Tradition, and the Church's teaching authority are not separate elements of Catholicism. They are all forever linked facets of Faith directed and guided by the Holy Spirit.
